Creating a Modelling Portfolio for Sophia

Creating a Modelling Portfolio for Sophia

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Sophia as she began creating images for her modelling portfolio.

A portfolio shoot is about more than capturing one beautiful photograph. It’s about creating a varied collection of images that show different expressions, angles and sides of someone’s personality—while still keeping everything natural and authentic.

Throughout the shoot, I guided Sophia with posing and expressions and mum helped lots too as had modelling experience herself, we helped her feel comfortable in front of the camera. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what to do; that’s all part of my job, and it was lovely watching Sophia’s confidence grow as the session progressed.

After the shoot, Sophia and Angelique were able to look through all the photographs and choose the images they felt would work best for her portfolio. I was very happy to offer my thoughts, although I always encourage clients to be part of the final selection—particularly with modelling portfolios, as agencies can sometimes have their own preferences about the looks and expressions they want to see.

It was such an enjoyable shoot, and I was delighted to hear afterwards that Sophia had loved the experience and found my guidance helpful. I feel very lucky to have played a small part at the beginning of her modelling journey, and I can’t wait to hear how she gets on.

If you or your child/teenager is considering modelling and would like a relaxed, supportive portfolio photography session, please feel free to get in touch. I’m based near Reading in Berkshire and will guide you through the whole experience—from planning the shoot to choosing your final photographs.
